Iran Thongdy, MA, LMFTA

A welcoming and confidential space where healing begins. Whether you're seeking individual therapy, couples counseling, or family therapy, I am here to guide you through life’s challenges with empathy, curiosity and compassion.

A little bit about me...Iran Thongdy received a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University Seattle in 2022. He holistically integrates Narrative Family Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy when treating his clients. This means providing a non-judgmental space for his clients to process their life stories and the challenge(s) they are encountering in their world. Oftentimes, this may look like he is metaphorically walking side by side with them as the challenge(s) are processed. Or, how he likes to define it, “I walk side by side with my clients into the trenches. I challenge them and keep them safe, while empowering and emphasizing their untapped unique strengths.”During his internship at Sound Mental Health, he mainly treated young adolescents (8-12 y/o) and teens with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma and ADHD. What’s unique about Iran, is he brings his childlike exuberance into the room which allows the client to trust and open up to him. Additionally, this specific population will oftentimes include their parents and integrate more Structural Family Therapy ideologies. What this looks like in session is eliciting the family’s problem patterns, sharing those observations, and making change where appropriate. All while ensuring the young client is empowered and safe. When working with adult individuals, Iran instead integrates more Internal Family System ideologies. Or as he likes to explain it, “I conceptualize the individual’s parts, kind of like the Disney Pixar movie, ‘Inside Out’. Where metaphorically, the clients have these parts or characters, who are struggling to align with one another in a productive way.”
